Is there such a thing as structure insensitive heterogeneous catalysis? Dr. Charlotte Vogt, Principal Investigator at the Technion Institute of Technology in Israel, will address this phenomenon in our upcoming VSPARTICLE user webinar. Please join us if you would like to know more on this topic.

Wednesday, 2nd March 2022 - 9am

In this webinar, Dr. Charlotte Vogt will address a fundamental concept in heterogeneous catalysis: structure (in)sensitivity. The VSP-G1 Nanoparticle Generator was employed to prepare clean Ni nanoparticles on SiN membranes for in-situ high resolution transmission electron microscopy.Dr. Vogt used these model Ni catalysts to study the nanoparticle structure during structure sensitive catalysis, CO2 hydrogenation, structure insensitive catalysis, and ethene hydrogenation. During the latter, significant particle restructuring was observed. Together with extensive catalytic activity testing and operando spectroscopy measurements, Dr. Vogt’s research provides significant insights into how classically structure insensitive reactions are in fact only apparently structure insensitive, as well as providing substantial insights into the size-dependent dynamics of nanoparticle restructuring in catalytic reactions.
