Sumitomo have been involved in the manufacture of Lithium Niobate Modulators for over 20 years and have remained at the forefront of Lithium Niobate Modulator technology. Their current range covers modulators with speeds from 5Gbit/s to 40Gbit/s.
Sumitomo’s optical modulator design incorporates a Ti-diffused waveguide on a Lithium Niobate crystal, a travelling-wave type electrode and a tiny polarizer. The composition of these materials, combined with Sumitomo’s experience and technical know-how, helps to achieve superior performance: Low insertion Loss, Low Driving Voltage, Wide Optical Bandwidth, High ON/OFF Extinction Ratio.
